The large Vacuum Test Facility (LVTF-2) consists of a horizontal stainless steel cylinder with two full diameter end caps, which can be removed to allow the introduction of large test articles. The chamber is 12.5 m long and has a diameter of 3.8 m for a total volume of 140 cu.m. On the sides of the chamber there are 1000 mm and 1300 mm diameter flanges which allow connecting through gate valves up to three service chambers for parallel tests of several articles.
The cryogenic pump system has been designed in order to provide highest performance than the LVTF-1.

The LVTF-2 Vacuum Chamber parameters:

• Fully dry pumping system
• 12.5 m long with 3.8 m diameter
• The chamber wall is protected with graphite shield to reduce backsputtering
• Chevron type beam target
• The thruster is placed more than 7 m far from the beam target
• Main caps equipped with 1300 mm flanges to connect loading lock chamber
